All Good Things Come in Twos

Kwa engaging with locals and staff in his trip to Rwanda.

Kwadir Scott, known as Director Two or simply Kwa, is a Hunting Park native with a passion for community and visual artistry. We had the pleasure of sitting down at the Folcroft Diner after a creative content day to reflect on his journey—a path marked by bold choices, rich collaboration, and unwavering creative spirit.

Kwa studied performing arts for most of his education at String Theory High School, with a focus on vocal performance. During high school, he began exploring other creative mediums and landed on photography in 2016—though only for about a year. It didn’t quite satisfy him the way videography did. “You can paint a whole scene in your mind with film,” he shared. “Rather than it just being a still moment, you’re able to do a lot more—and get more creative.”

And creative he’s been. Once he got his first video camera, he never looked back. His introduction to filmmaking came in 2017 through the “Talk to Me” mentorship program under As I Plant the Seed. While he doesn’t consider that project his most polished, it allowed him to be hands-on and gain the experience that made him fall in love with the medium.

Since that initial passion project, Kwa has traveled the country working with organizations in South Carolina, Indianapolis, Chicago, New Jersey, and soon, Denver. But the U.S. hasn’t been the limit—Kwa was part of a cohort in Rwanda, where he co-created and filmed a collaborative documentary, marking one of his farthest and most transformative ventures yet.

Before taking the leap to Africa, Kwa made the bold decision to go fully independent after his temp agency contract ended. Despite being in a tough financial spot, he followed his intuition. The trip gave him a deep perspective—seeing the cultural contrast in how grateful and driven the people around him were. It was a turning point that reaffirmed his choice to bet on himself.

Today, Kwa works at The Treehouse, a local community center in Hunting Park that provides creative programming, local events, and a safe space for all who need it. He kicked off this year with a sponsored trip to Puerto Rico as a director and visual guide—where I had the pleasure of meeting him. His trajectory is steeped in community, culture and intention–and it’s only the beginning.

I hope you’re as excited as I am to see what’s next for this rising director.
